Yes in senior school I was in the boy’s toilets one morning when the school nurse entered and caught several of us smoking she sent us to wait outside her room with a resounding slap to each of our bottoms as we exited the toilets. As we were heading to the nurses room we heard her stop one of the passing girls and asked her to go and ask the gym teacher for the loan of the largest gym shoe he had. She took the four of us into her room and told us to line up hands on heads while she lectured us at length about the health dangers of smoking not to mention the fact it was illegal for us to smoke at our age. She handed us anti-smoking pamphlets and said she wanted us to read them and then copy them out in our best handwriting. The was a knock on the door and a girl handed a white plimsoll to the nurse and it looked very large indeed! Sitting down on a chair she motioned the first of us to bend over her knee and gave him 10 stinging whacks with the gym shoe to the seat of his trousers before sending him on his way. I was next and she gave me a very hard slippering.
