Richard McCroskey, who lived in Virginia, was a horrorcore rapper who went by his rapper name “Syko Sam“. He posted a number of rap songs dealing with murder, death, rape, and corpses, and in those songs he glorified all of those things. He eventually became so obsessed with it to the point that he actually wanted all of that to become a reality for him. And that’s exactly what he did in Sept. 14, 2009.
On that day, Richard went over to his girlfriend’s house with a maul in hand and attacked 3 female victims while they were in their sleep. After he was done, Richard had murdered Emma Neiderbrock (his girlfriend), Melanie Wells (Emma’s friend), and Debra Kelley (Emma’s mother).
Richard stayed in the house for a few days, then Mark Niederbrock (Emma’s father) arrived at the house on September 17 at about 5 p.m., and McCroskey attacked him with the maul in the living room, killing him in the process.
Prior to the murders, Melanie’s mother called the police to check on her daughter, when police arrived at Kelley’s home, McCroskey answered the door and told police that Wells was at the movies with her friends. The police then left, but when Well’s mother called the police again they went to the house and discovered the bodies. By that time, McCroskey had fled, stealing and wrecking Mark’s 200 Honda in order to flee. But he was later apprehended at Richmond International Airport on September 18, where police found him sleeping in the baggage claim area.
Richard was charged with first degree murder, robbery and grand larceny. On September 20, 2010, McCroskey pleaded guilty to the four murders. Although he was facing the death penalty, the judge decided to sentence him to life in prison.
You can still find his rap songs on the internet, in case you’re interested in seeing them.
RIP to the victims.
