I’m a cancer/chemo survivor. I was diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 Hodgkin’s. I was extremely weak, prone to lung infection/lack of oxygen, extreme fatigue, inability to eat…I was supposed to die in 2017. It’s painful, let me tell you.
I was in palliative care in early 2018 and did die – obviously revived, but it was f*cking painful, uncomfortable and truly inconveniencing – caused me to loose my page in my book.
My haematologist and I had already discussed an “exit plan” just in case. If things got worse, I’d be put on heavy morphine and kept in isolation and quiet until the end. Lovely bloke he is!
Imagine being so weak and tired that you can’t even go to the toilet and end up either pee’ing yourself or shitting yourself, collapsing from simply standing (or trying), feeling neuropathic pain in your feet, legs, hands and neck…not real fun, let me tell you.
