Did Thor use a suit to appear fat in Avengers: Endgame?

I, too, used to wonder whether the fat on Thor we see in Endgame was Chris Hemsworth’s actual body, or not.

I used to think “how in the world did Chris Hemsworth, the worldwide fitness icon, get so fat so fast, and then lose it all once filming wrapped up?”

But it turns out that all that fat and blubber was indeed prosthetic attachments. Albeit very good ones.

In a behind-the-scenes interview, Chris revealed that he was given a huge, and very intricate, latex suit, whose feel and texture mimicked human skin considerably.

It was so intricate that he needed the assistance of multiple set hands to help him slip into it every time – like a giant set of spandex tights- and zip it up at the back.

It was really quite amazing.

He also had padding slipped into his mouth in order to make make his cheeks fatter.

And one interesting little factoid: Hemsworth absolutely loved it!

According to him, he felt like Santa Claus. Everyone wanted to just come up and hug him just for the latex-like feel of his skin.

In fact, Robert Downey Jr. (being Robert Downey Jr.), would often gave him belly rubs whenever he was in the fat suit. He just felt right. In his words, it reminded him of his wife when she was pregnant.

And Hemsworth even once joked about other Avengers sitting on his lap, like a big ol’ grandpa!

So yeah, Chris Hemsworth wore a 70-pound fat suit while filming Endgame, and he had a whole lot of fun doing it!
