There are loads of movies, which feature “eye candy” scenes, and some people bemoan the fact that these scenes and movies exist. I don’t dislike any movie simply because the movie has “eye candy” scenes. I mean, what’s the big deal? Movies are meant for entertainment, and some people enjoy watching “eye candy” scenes. If you don’t like it or hate watching them, close your eyes or something.
These various movie scenes include the much maligned Alice Eve Star Trek Into Darkness scene, the Kate Beckinsale scene in Whiteout, the Halle Berry scene in Swordfish, and the various scenes in Piranha: 3D, and practically any Ram Gopal Varma movie in the last decade (those are replete with “eye candy” scenes from the start to finish).
Sure, these scenes may not move the plot an inch forward or do much for the narrative, but the directors put them in for a purpose – either to get publicity or to titillate the audience. So, let it be, I guess – as per me, “eye candy” scenes are less damaging than the high fructose corn syrup candy people seem to stuff their guts with.
