How did shark cage diving start?

*It started with blood.

Rodney Fox.

He was (spearfishing) – Australia 1963.

A great white-opened him up.

It broke his ribs and punctured a lung.

He survived, barely.

Most men would quit the ocean forever.

Fox was different, he wanted to go back.

He needed armor though – so, he went to the Adelaide Zoo.

He saw lions pacing behind iron bars – He had a thought.

Put the man in the cage and let the beast roam free – a simple dangerous thing.

He built a galvanized steel box – went back in 1965 to film Attacking Sharks.

So, the thing that almost ate him became his life’s work – He invented the industry not for money, but to look the devil in the eye again.

Cousteau had cages earlier, but Fox made it a sport – He turned a near death thing into a ticket booth.
