“Sorry for your loss, Stanley. You and your late wife sure do look great.”
Stanley Tucci and and his late wife, Kathryn, tied the knot in 1995 and were together for 14 years before Kathryn died of breast cancer, in 2009.
And even though Tucci has moved on from this event, he admitted that it wasn’t easy, and if you or someone you know have ever suddenly become a widow/widower, I’m sure his words are also your words. A year before Kathryn died, the couple purchased a six acre farmhouse in South Salem, New York.
“When my wife Kate died, that certainly turned my life completely upside down, and she died in [our] house,” he told Justin in the episode. “It was sad to leave that house. She was a very outdoorsy person. I’m an outdoorsy but she was even much more … She loved all that, so it was very difficult to leave that.”
Tucci eventually gathered up the strength to leave his New York Residence in 2013 and moved to London, where he now lives full time with his new wife, Felicity (Blunt), whom he married in 2012. But even though he has remarried, he still thinks about his late wife.
Here are some of the words that he expressed to CBS Sunday Morning, “You never stop grieving. You never stop grieving,” Stanley told the outlet. “And it’s still hard after 11 years, it’s still hard, and it always will be hard. But you can’t let it, and she would never want any of us to ever wallow in that grief and let it take over our lives. She would never want that. She wasn’t like that.”
While the grieving process can be different for everyone, because we are all different, it’s great to hear that Tucci at least took a couple of years off from the dating scene to clear his head and regroup. Some people dive right back into relationships that prove terminal all because of a fear of being alone and having their routine broken up. As Tucci is not just one of my favorite actors, he’s also one of my favorite people, so I wish nothing but the best for he and his beautiful bride.
